University of Northern Colorado's "Cans to Candelaria" is an annual, campuswide food drive to benefit the Weld Food Bank. Registration continues through October 1st for the food drive competition. The goal for 2008 is 10,000 pounds of food, so register your college, school, administrative office, club, or organization. Registration forms are available by visiting the food drive website and clicking on "Get Involved". Each person who registers a group will receive a Cans to Candelaria T-shirt. Collection of cans and cash will be on October 9th and their mission is to help feel Weld County's hungry, heighten individual and community awareness about hunger, and create community involvement.

Join the Fort Collins and CSU Campus Communities in celebrating the biggest parade in town!

The parade will begin at its traditional starting point at Mountain Avenue and Howes Street, and after moving down Howes, will travel through the Oval. The parade will continue across the university plaza and conclude on campus at Meridian Avenue and University Avenue, at the Homecoming Festival on the West Lawn of the Lory Student Center.

With a live auction featuring renowned auctioneer Don Martin, a vast and varied silent auction and beer and wine, Longmont Humane Society’s 24th Annual Animal Affair will take place Saturday, October 18th, 2008!

The Animal Affair has been a fun, fantastic way to support homeless animals in Boulder County for more than two decades, and in keeping with the opening of the new LHS Allen Center, this will be the biggest, best edition yet.

The evening will feature dinner, a silent auction with more than 200 items and a wide selection of seasonal ales and wines for your tasting pleasure.

Don Martin, “the voice of fundraising,” has been presenting lively, fun-filled events for non-profit organizations inn Colorado and across the nation for more than 20 years.

All proceeds from the event go toward caring for and finding new homes for animals at Longmont Humane Society. This year’s fundraising appeal will focus on the humane society’s planned low-cost spay-and-neuter program, which will help address the roots of pet overpopulation in the community.

The corn maze 'something from the farm' is holding a fundraiser day on Sunday October 19th from 1-9 pm. 1/2 of all proceeds from tickets sold will be given to UNICEF. The maze is located behind the Redeemer church on Carpenter Rd between Timberline and Lemay. Please come have some fun and support a great cause! Food, hay rides and pumpkins are just a few fun things to do!

The Halloween Hullabaloo is a free family festival that will be held Saturday, October 25, from noon to 4:30 p.m. on Fall River Drive (between Panera Bread and Noodles). Activities will include a safety fair with the Loveland Fire Department, cookie decorating, bounce castles, face painting, character drawings, balloon artist and more. At 3 p.m. there will be a costume parade followed by a costume contest at 3:30 p.m. with entries for children, adults, groups and even family pets. In addition, there will be decorated pumpkins for sale with proceeds benefiting Partners Mentoring Youths of Larimer County.

Loveland Halloween Family Fun Festival

Dress up the family and head into town for some Halloween fun!

In its 7th year, the Loveland Museum/Gallery is celebrating the annual Loveland Halloween Family Fun Festival, while downtown businesses celebrate the annual Downtown Trick-or-Treating. Join us in Peters Park next to the Museum/Gallery on Saturday, October 25 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM for this fun-filled community event, with downtown trick-or-treating running simultaneously.

The 7th Annual Halloween Family Fun Festival will feature live entertainment, crafts and activities for kids, food and a costume contest for all ages with categories ranging from infants to adults. This event will run rain or shine- if needed the event will be moved into the Museum. Downtown Trick-or-Treating will also be open to youngsters at most downtown businesses, identified by signs in their windows.

Where: OLD H/P plant at 10th St. and 71st Ave. Come on out to 7099 - 10th Street (Across from Boomerang Golf Course, the entrance is on the 71st Avenue side) Designated parking is $5 per vehicle per event.

Transportation:
SHUTTLE BUS
$1 for adults, 50¢ for kids over 5
for Saturday Night Balloon Glow. Bus runs every 10 minutes
from 5 pm through 8:30 pm. Departing the Winograd parking lot
(east of Northridge High School) to launch field and return.

This is the seventh year for the annual Loveland Turkey Trot. The race is fast becoming the place to be on Thanksgiving Day. Open to participants of all ages and abilities, the Loveland Turkey Trot is a 5k/3.1-mile run or walk and is the perfect way to spend time with friends and family.

Thanksgiving Day, November 27
Time: 8:00 a.m. - 5K -  9:00 a.m. Gobbler Trek
Location: McKee Medical Center 2000 Boise Ave, Loveland

Race Start
The race begins on Hoffman Street just north of McKee Medical Center.
The 5K starts at 8 a.m. Registration and post-race awards will be given in front of the McKee Conference and Wellness Center (northwest area of the hospital campus).

Gobbler Trek
For children and participants who prefer a shorter course, the Gobbler Trek is a great alternative! This run/walk starts at 9 a.m. following the 5K. The course loops around McKee’s wellness walk on the hospital campus. The Gobbler Trek will not be timed and awards are not given. All kids 12 and under receive a finisher’s ribbon.

Team Run
Three-person or more teams are encouraged to enter this competition. The entire team must register prior to race day and pay as a team. Team prizes will be awarded.

Proceeds
100% of registration fees and sponsorships benefit the Kid-Self Pediatric Rehabilitation Programproviding therapy for uninsured and underinsured children.

The Members of Realities For Children invite you to join the NightLights celebration! This FREE community tree lighting ceremony features the lighting of the one-of-a-kind 50 foot tall NightLights tree, featuring 20,000 LED lights, in honor of abused and at-risk children locally. Live musical performances, hot Qdoba Mexican Grill soup and tasty treats will be served to all attendees. Held on December 1, 2007 from 6-7pm, 531 South College Avenue in Fort Collins, this is one event everyone can enjoy.

Realities For Children invites businesses, families and individuals to sponsor a light on the NightLights tree to help take a child out of the dark. Tree lights are $100 each and those who donate $1,000 or more will be recognized as Star Sponsors. All donations provide for abused and neglected children in Larimer County, and proceeds from NightLights will serve over 1,000 children this December and more than a dozen children’s agencies in 2009.

The NightLights Fund is a component fund of the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado, a 501(c)3 charitable organization, and 100% of tree light sponsorships help children in need in Larimer County. Tree light sponsors will receive recognition in local newsprint publications.
